About
How we check facts and prices
Every price, fee, deadline and rule on Starlink Switch USA comes from a named source, and every one shows the date we last read that source.
Where the facts come from
- The provider’s own pages first: plan pages, legal terms, fee schedules, help articles and order pages for Starlink, HughesNet, Viasat, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.
- Regulators and filings: FCC notices and consumer guides, court and bankruptcy filings, and company results.
- Measured speeds from the publisher that measured them, named next to the number with its period.
- Press reports only when no first-hand source exists, and always labeled as reported.
What the labels mean
Hover over or tap a dotted-underlined number to see its source and check date. Each fact carries one of these labels:
- Official: From the provider’s or regulator’s own page.
- Secondary: Reported by press or a third party.
- Our reading: Our plain reading of the provider’s own text.
- Derived: Our arithmetic from the cited figures.
- Unverified: Not confirmed by any source today.
What “Facts checked” means
Each page shows two dates. “Updated” is the last time we changed the page. “Facts checked” is the oldest reading behind any fact the page shows, so it never makes a page look fresher than its least-recent number. We only move a check date when we have actually re-read the source.
How often we re-check
- Starlink prices, kits, referral terms and billing rules: at least monthly. Residential prices have depended on the address since late October 2026, so we quote the price starlink.com gives for your address, next to Starlink’s dated national list and the dated test-address example we captured.
- HughesNet, Viasat, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon plans and fees: monthly.
- Hughes’ Chapter 11 case and AT&T copper-retirement notices: weekly while they are changing.
Corrections
Each scheduled re-read compares the page with its sources. When a source shows a figure, fee or rule has changed, we fix the page, move its “Updated” date and keep the older figure only where the page says it is historic. A fact we can no longer confirm is reworded to say so, never left with an old number.
Checking method: each price, fee and rule here links to the provider’s or regulator’s own page, dated the day we read it. No internet provider pays for a place on this site; the only income is the Starlink referral explained on our money page. Our fact-checking · How we make money · Corrections
